Ask Questions

Some of the information on this site may conflict with some other opinions and experiences. In every case, there is a reason. Almost all of these articles were written after years of interacting with customers in the stores I have either worked for or managed, maintaining clients’ tanks, and talking with lots of people online. I have seen the same issues come up over and over and seen too many myths and misconceptions repeated until they are accepted as fact. Many of these articles address those issues directly. So if something doesn’t mesh with something else you have read or heard, please ask. I am happy to explain things whenever necessary.

In addition, there may be other issues not covered in the site that you may have questions about. I am happy to answer any questions, it may even turn into another article.

My Background

I have been in the hobby since 1995. I have worked in the industry since 2000. I started as an associate at a small local pet shop. From there I moved up to Freshwater Department Manager at a local aquarium store where within one year I was promoted to Store Manager. I now own and run my own aquarium maintenance company. I have had and worked with almost every type of aquarium and fish available in the hobby. I am a Biologist and have had articles published in Aquarium Fish International, Tropical Fish Hobbyist, and Practical Fishkeeping magazines.

The information on this site is based on this extensive experience and knowledge. Some of it may be debated elsewhere, but the information is what I have found to be true and the most likely to make you successful.

Please provide any feedback you may have. This is always a work in progress and any suggestions are welcome.

I am also happy to answer any questions, no matter how small. Take a look around the site and if you don’t see an article related to your question or if you get any questions while reading any of the articles, just email me.
